Tafsir al-Jalalayn is a joint work between the two scholars Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli and al-Suyuti. Al-Mahalli began by explaining the Holy Quran from Surah Al-Kahf to Surah An-Nas, with the addition of Surah Al-Fatihah, but he passed away in the year 864 AH before completing the commentary. After his death, al-Suyuti completed the work, starting from Surah Al-Baqarah to the end of Surah Al-Isra, thus completing this reference known as Tafsir al-Jalalayn.
The commentary was widely accepted and taught at Al-Azhar Mosque and other educational institutions for many years. It was printed several times, first in Egypt in 1278 AH, then in Bulaq in 1280 AH, and subsequently in the Wahabi Press and Bulaq many times, leading to later editions in Al-Bahiyya Press in 1300 AH, becoming an important reference for students and researchers in Quranic sciences.
